What a game! Trailing 45-35 with 11 minutes to play, the Jackets rallied back to tie the game at 49 with 7:30 remaining in the game. The game remained within 3 points for the rest of the game. Down 1, the Jackets missed a 3-pt attempt with 15 seconds and were forced to foul. Barnesville junior Ethan Ishaug stepped to the line and hit two free throws. Tyler Glines brought the ball up and kicked it to Eli Beachy who was well defended. He passed to Sam Muer who canned a 3-pointer with 1.8 seconds remaining to tie the game and send it to overtime. In OT, Tyler Glines drove to the basket, spun and hit a layup as time expired to give the Jackets a 66-64 victory. The Jackets were led in scoring by Sam Muer who had 24 points on 8-9 shooting (2-2 from 3 and 4-4 FT) along with 4 rebounds. Nick Bahls had 14 points in the first half ad finished with 16. Hunter Salathe finished with 10 pts & 6 boards while Tyler Glines added 10 points and 3 assists. Eli Beachy rounded up the scoring with 6 points, 5 assists & 2 steals while guarding Barnesville star Michael Strand who finished the game with 42 points. The win brings the #4 ranked Jackets to 7-1.
The JV team was down by 5 at the half but rallied to win 54-44. They were led by Chris Kenntemich who hit 5 3-pointers on his way to 24 points. Christian Weis added 8 and Andrew Johnson 6. The JV moves to 7-1 with the win.
The C-Team netted a 59-23 victory over Barnesville to bring their season record to 6-3. Reid Moser led all scorers with 24. Noah Christenson and Dart Montella added 8 points each while Aaron Solberg and Austin King each added 6.
The Jackets return to action for a Saturday matinee. The C-Team plays Oak Grove at 11:15, followed by a JV and varsity matchup against one of the top area teams in Battle Lake at 1:00 and 2:30. All games are at the middle school. And remember to wear white!
