Perham 51, Breckenridge 36

The Yellowjackets bounced back from a tough loss on Tuesday to defeat conference rivals the Breckenridge Cowboys 51-36. Hunter Salathe led all scorers with 13 points and 8 rebounds. Eli Beachy added 12 points and 3 assists. Nick Bahls added 10 points while Tyler Glines had 6 points, 8 rebounds, and 6 assists. Sam Muer contibuted 8 points and 3 boards. Trey Moberg added 2 points, as well. The Jackets had only 7 turnovers as a team for the entire game. The Jackets are now 13-5 on the year going into Saturday’s game against Highway 10 rival Detroit Lakes.

The JV had a hot shooting night making 9 3-pointers (including three separate 4-point plays) on their way to a 56-25 victory. Jaden Anderson led the Jacket offense with 20 points while Christian Weis added 15. Zach Tellinghuisen added 8 while Nic Winkels had 7. Chris Kenntemich and Aaron Wilschewski each added 3 to round out the scoring. The JV is now 16-2 on the year.

The C-Team started off the evening with a fine performance beating the Cowboys 58-25. Austin King led the way with 16 points. Reid Moser added 14 and Dart Montella had another 10. Hunter Kjelshus hit a pair of threes on his way to 6 points. Aaron Solberg added another 6 points while Noah Christenson (4) and Tristan Groff (2) also scored for the Jackets. The C-Team is now 14-5 for the season.

The Jackets return to action on Saturday against the Detroit Lakes Lakers in an all-day boys/girls doubleheader at the Prairie Wind Middle School. The schedule is as follows:

Fergus Falls 64, Perham 61

The Jackets stormed out to an early 25-7 lead on the way to a seemingly comfortable 31-17 halftime lead over Fergus Falls on Tuesday. The Otters battled back thanks to a pair of 3’s from Drew Pearson and a diverse offensive attack from Austin Rund (game high 29 points), but the Jackets maintained a 10 point lead with just over a minute and a half to play. The Jackets failed to close and the Otters went on a 13-0 run to close the game and defeat the Jackets by 3. The Jackets were led by Hunter Salathe and Tyler Glines with 15 points each. Nick Bahls added 13 points and a team high 6 assists. Sam Muer added 8 points and 6 rebounds. The Jackets also received scoring from Eli Beachy (4), Sam Willenbring (4), and Jamie Hietala (2). The loss brings the Jackets to 12-5 on the year.

The JV won their 6th consecutive game in a hard fought overtime game against Fergus Falls winning 49-43 to improve the season record to 15-2. Kenntemich led all scorers with 20, followed by the sophomore post duo of Aaron Wilschewski and Tellinghuisen with 8 each. Christian Weis added 5. Jaden Anderson (3), Alec Meyer (2), Andrew Johnson (2), and Nic Winkels (1) rounded out the scoring.

The C-Team lost their second consecutive game to an undefeated Fergus Falls C-Team 51-37. Noah Christenson led Perham with 11 points followed by Dart Montella (5), Elias Hoffman (5), Reid Moser (5), Aaron Solberg (4), Austin King (3), Tyler Mayfield (2), and Hunter Kjelshus (2). The record on their season is now 13-5.

The Jackets return to action on Thursday against Breckenridge. All three games are at the middle school. The C-Team kicks off the action at 5:00 PM followed by JV at 6:15 PM and varsity at 7:30 PM. Perham is currently tied with Barnesville and Hawley (who play against each other tonight in Hawley) atop the HOL conference with a 5-2 conference record.

2 HOL Championships and a Runner Up



Congrats to the Jacket 8th graders who won HOL championship game 47-32 over Breckenridge. They defeated Hawley in the first round & DGF in the second round.


The 7th grade also took home a championship with a 54-25 victory over Breckenridge. They beat Lake Park/Audubon 45-10 in the first round and Hawley 69-25 in the second round.

The 9th graders lost 44-40 in the championship game to DGF after defeating West Central (35-26) and Barnesville (38-21) in the first two rounds. Their record is now 13-4 for the season.

Overall, a great day for the Yellowjackets. Good news Perham fans… the future looks bright!

Perham 64, Pelican Rapids 57


One of the hottest rivalries in the state was renewed tonight as the Perham Yellowjackets travelled to Pelican Rapids. Nick Bahls nailed a three courtesy of Tyler Glines to bring the Jackets into the locker room with a halftime lead 32-31. An early 2nd half run gave Perham a slight cushion. Thanks to solid FT shooting – especially from Tyler Glines who was 8-for-9, the Jackets were able to roll to a 64-57 win. Tyler Glines led with 18 points on 2-for-4 3-pt shooting with 4 rebounds, 5 assists, 2 blocks, and 1 steal. Hunter Salathe sparked the offense in the second half with 17 points, 5 rebounds, and 4 assists. Nick Bahls sparked the offense early in the first half and finished the game with 16 points (4-for-7 3-pt) along 5 rebounds and 2 steals. Eli Beachy did an admirable job guarding Pelican Rapids PG Ryan Bruggeman while chipping in 8 points. Sam Muer finished up the scoring with 5 points and 7 rebounds. The Jackets are now 12-4 on the season

The JV won 66-32 to move to 14-2 on the year. Jaden Anderson led all scores with 20 points including 4 threes. Chris Kenntemich added 10 as did Zach Tellinghuisen. Nic Winkels contributed 6 points off the bench. Andrew Johnson and Aaron Wilschewski added 4. Rounding out the scoring for the Jackets was Andy Hanson (3), Alec Meyer (3), and Nathan Coleman (2).

The Jackets return to action on Tuesday as they travel to Fergus Falls. Pay close attention to times this week as all three games have odd start times for C-Team, JV, and varsity.


Perham 64, DGF 42

The Yellowjackets used a 17-0 run in the second midway through the first half to open up a gap versus the DGF Rebels and never looked back as they cruised to a 64-42 victory. Hunter Salathe led the way in scoring with 19 points along with 6 rebounds. Sam Muer went 5-for-7 from the floor on the way to 12 points. Eli Beachy and Nick Bahls each had a pair of 3’s while netting 10 points each. Sam Willenbring continued his solid bench play adding 7 points on 2-for-2 3-point shooting. Tyler Glines only scored 2 points, but added 4 rebounds, 9 assists, 2 steals, and 2 blocks. Jaden Anderson and Trey Moberg each added 2 points to round out the scoring. The victory moved the Yellowjackets to 11-4 on the season.

The JV continued their trend of playing well in the 2nd half. Leading 30-27 at halftime, they rolled to a 66-49 victory over DGF. Christian Weis led the way with a very impressive 20-point performance. Backcourt mates Jaden Anderson and Chris Kenntemich added 13 and 12 points respectively. Andrew Johnson added 6 points while Alec Meyer and Zack Tellinghuisen eached added 5. Rounding out the scoring was Nic Winkels with 3 and Aaron Wilschewski with 2. The JV record improves to 13-2.

Down 5 with 1:06 remaining, the C-Team managed to score the last 10 points of the game to net a 49-44 victory. Austin King shook off some first half foul trouble to lead the Jackets to 17 points including hitting 5 of the 6 free throws in the last minute of the game. Noah Christenson scored 15 points all in the second half including a big 3-pointer to tie the game with the Jackets trailing 44-41 in the closing minute. Reid Moser added 7 points, Aaron Solberg added 6 points, and Elias Hoffman added 4 points off the bench to round out the scoring. The win keeps the Jackets 8-game winning streak alive as they are now 11-3 on the year heading into the HOL tournament this Saturday in Barnesville.

The JV and Varsity travel to Pelican Rapids on Friday to once again meet up with the conference rival Vikings. There will be no C-Team game. JV plays at 6:00 PM and Varsity action follows at 7:30. As is always the case when Perham and Pelican play, arrive early to ensure a good seat!

Perham 83, Park Rapids 29


The Jackets played quite possibly their best game of the season beating an 8-win Park Rapids squad 83-29. The Jackets jumped out to a big halftime lead (54-17) before closing the game in running time as everyone got into the game. Nick Bahls led all scorers (21 pts on 67% 3-point shooting along with 3 boards, 2 assists, and a block). Hunter Salathe nearly had a double-double with 15 points and 8 rebounds. Eli Beachy had a solid all-around 11 points, 8 assists, and 3 steals. Sam Muer had 11 points and 4 rebounds while Tyler Glines had 8 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists. Sam Willenbring scored a career-high 8 points. Rounding out the scoring was Jamie Hietala (3), Trey Moberg (2), Chris Kenntemich (2), and Zach Tellinghuisen (2).

The JV lacked an offense spark in the first half but managed to turn it around for a big second half to cruise to a 51-32 victory. Jaden Anderson netted 13 points to lead the Jackets. Alec Meyer, who brought some strong bench play, followed with 11. Chris Kenntemich had 7 points in one half of action. Nic Winkels added 6 points. Rounding out the scoring was Andrew Johnson (4), Christian Weis (3), Andy Hanson (3), Matthew Siira (2), Aaron Wilschewski (1), and Zach Tellinghuisen (1). The win brings the Jackets to 12-2 on the year.

The C-Team won their 7th consecutive game to move to 10-3 on the year with a 52-21. Austin King led all scorers with 20 points. Noah Christenson scored 9 while Dart Montella added 6. Elias Hoffman and Reid Moser each netted 5. Closing out the scoring was Austin Hoffman (3), Aaron Solberg (2), and Tyler Mayfield.

The Jackets return on Thursday with their only home game in the month of January against HOL rivals DGF. JV and C-Team start at 6 pm followed by the varsity at 7:30 pm.


Perham 54, Frazee 41


The Perham boys were victorious in a hard fought game versus the scrappy Frazee Hornets 54-41 on Friday night.

The Jacket offense was led by Nick Bahls who had 14 points including 4 3-pointers. Tyler Glines followed with 13 points along with 5 steals. Eli Beachy provided pesky defense that led to 3 steals along with 9 points and 4 rebounds. Hunter Salathe added 9 points and 6 rebounds. Sam Muer chipped in with 5 points and 6 boards while playing through some foul trouble. Jamie Hietala and Trey Moberg added a bucket each. The win brings the Jackets to 9-4 on the season.

The JV marched to a 51-28 win moving their overall record to 11-2. Nic Winkels (13) and Christian Weis (11) led the offensive attack. Jaden Anderson added 6 while Aaron Wilschewski had 4. Rounding out the scoring was Alec Meyer (3), Andy Hanson (3), Nathan Coleman (2), and Andrew Johnson (2).

The C-Team jumped out to an early lead and never trailed on the way to a 52-20 victory. Noah Christenson (15) and Aaron Solberg (12) were both in double digits leading the Perham offense. Also scoring for Perham was Reid Moser (8), Dart Montella (6), Hunter Kjelshus (4), Austin King (4), and Tyler Mayfield (3).

The Jackets return to action Tuesday, January 14th in Park Rapids to battle the Panthers.

Hawley 63, Perham 47

Despite ice cold shooting and a season high in turnovers, the Jackets managed to hang in with the Hawley Nuggets trailing by 5 at halftime and managing take lead early in the second half. The Nuggets went on a run halfway through the second half pulling away from the Yellowjackets giving Perham their second conference loss and 4th loss overall on the season. The Jackets were led in scoring by Tyler Glines and Nick Bahls with 11 points each. Hunter Salathe added 10 points and 10 rebounds. Also scoring for Perham was Sam Muer (4), Eli Beachy (3), Jamie Hietala (3), Christian Weis (3), and Sam Willenbring (2). Dalton Leaf led all scorers with 16 points while Ben Ellefson added 13 and Jordan Harms had 12 for the Nuggets. The Jackets and Nuggets will square off once again in Perham on Friday, February 7th.

The JV rolled to a 46-12 victory over Hawley. Chris Kenntemich and Jaden Anderson both scored 10. Nic Winkels followed with 9 points. Rounding out the scoring for Perham was Aaron Wilschewski (6), Andy Hanson (3), Zack Tellinghuisen (4), and Andrew Johnson (4).

The C-Team was also victorious storming out to a 32-2 halftime lead eventually winning 48-15. Austin King led all scorers with 18 points. Dart Montella added 6 followed by Reid Moser (5), Noah Christenson (4), Aaron Solberg (4), Tristan Groff (4), Tyler Mayfield (2), Aaron Hegle (2), and Austin Hoffman (1).

All three teams are back in action of Friday night as they travel to Frazee to take on the Hornets. The C-Team and varsity play at 6:00 PM at the high school with varsity action to follow.


Mankato West 60, Perham 52

With a win over Worthington on Friday night, the Yellowjackets advanced to their 5th consecutive championship game of the annual Daily Globe-Trojan Holiday Classic. The reward was a chance to test themselves against a very highly rated AAA team in Mankato West. After leading 25-22 at halftime, the Jackets came out strong building a 9-point lead in the second half. Mankato West went on an 18-5 run to pull away. The Jackets pulled to within 4 with 1:40 to play, but ultimately did not get any closer as Mankato West managed to pull out the 8 point win over the Jackets. Nick Bahls led the Jackets in scoring with 19 points on 5 3-point shots. Hunter Salathe (14) and Tyler Glines (12) joined him in double digits while Sam Muer (5), Eli Beachy (1), and Trey Moberg (1) finished off the scoring.

The loss brings the Jackets to 8-3 on the season. The Jackets will have a few days off from games with the New Years holiday but will return to action against HOL foe Hawley in a rematch of last year’s subsection championship game in Hawley on January 7th. JV (High School) and C-Team (Elementary) play at 6:00 PM and the Varsity (High School) follows at 7:30.

Perham 81, Worthington 52


After last season’s OT loss in the championship game, the Jackets scored early and often defeating the Worthington Trojans 81-52. Senior Hunter Salathe led the Jackets scoring punch with a career high 33 points, 12 points, and 5 rebounds. Sam Muer added 14 points, 13 rebounds, and 7 assists while Eli Beachy was in double figures with 12, as well, along with 6 assists and 5 steals. Tyler Glines had 7 points as did Chris Kenntemich. Nick Bahls added 5, and Trey Moberg added 3 to round out the scoring. The Jackets advance to the championship game where they will face a very tough AAA team in Mankato West. The Scarlets are 6-2 on the season after defeating Sibley East 79-56.

In JV action, Zach Tellinghuisen led the offense to a high scoring first half scoring 12 of his 13 before halftime. Backcourt duo Christian Weis (15) and Jaden Anderson (11) we’re also in double digits. Chris Kenntemich added 8 in only one half of play. Andy Hanson had 6 on 2 threes while Andrew Johnson, Nic Winkels, Nathan Coleman, and Matthew Siira each added a basket as the Jackets stormed to victory 65-38 over the hosts from Worthington.

The JV championship game is at 2:30 while the varsity plays at 6:30.
