Gameday #22 – Perham Yellowjackets at Hawley Nuggets

gameday-2015-logo

The Jackets (9-12, 5-4 HOL) have found victories hard to come by winning just 2 of their last 8 games over a busy stretch of really tough games. The last 8 games have a combined winning percentage of 0.627 including 4 class 3A schools, 3 HOL conference games, and the defending ND Class B state champions. Up next is the current king of the HOL standings – the Hawley Nuggets (18-3, 9-0 HOL). With a few exceptions, that Jackets have played relatively well but have just fallen a little short over the last month. The Nuggets are undefeated against class AA schools this year having won 18 of their last 19 games with the long loss coming to Class 4A Stillwater in the Moorhead holiday tournament. The Nuggets currently lead the conference in points allowed per game, defensive FG percentage, and rebounding while 4-year starter and NDSU football recruit Ben Ellefson leads the conference in scoring (22.1 ppg) and is second is rebounding (8.6).

A win tonight would clinch the HOL conference title for the Nuggets.

History

Hawley came back from a halftime deficit to defeat the Jackets earlier in the season 50-39. The Jackets have played in the playoffs in each of the last five seasons with the Jackets coming out victorious in each of the last four seasons.
